How to Record on TEFLSpeaking.com
In using TEFLspeaking.com for your teaching needs you will often encounter TEFLspeaking.com's web based digital recorder. The digital recorder is powerful and easy to use once you are familar with it. Lets look at the interface.
1) These are the record and play buttons and will be your primary mode of recording and listening to your recording. 2) This is the interface screen that will provide feedback on the levels and length of your recording. 3) You can control additional settings such as microphone level, which microphone to record from, through the settings panel.
Step 1
The first step to recording is to ensure that your equipment is setup and configured properly. Your computer needs a microphone (both internal or external microphones are compatable) that is unmuted, and Macromedia Flash software.
You can adjust your microphone volume, and which microphone you are recording with by clicking the settings button (point 3) and adjusting the settings shown at point 4.
Step 2
If your computer is configured and has the right equipment you can continue by pressing the red and blue "Rec" button on the recorder interface. (Seen at point 5)
Step 3
The first time you use the web based recorder you will be asked if you wish to allow TEFLspeaking.com the use of your computers microphone. This is for your safety and privacy, and will prevent TEFLspeaking.com from recording you with out your wishes.
To continue recording click the "Allow" button seen at point 6.
Step 4
Once you have allowed TEFLspeaking.com access to your microphone you can click the "Rec" button as described in Step 1 and begin recording. The status bar will begin moving and the timer will start counting. The interface will provide a graphical representation of the volume of your recording, this will help you create a balanced recording (seen at point 7).
When you are finished recording press the "Stop" button seen at point 8. Once you stop recording it will be automaticly saved to the server. At this point you don't have to do anything more to the recording for students to access it other than click the "create" button at the bottom of the screen.
If you wish to listen to your recording you can press the "Play" button and the recorder will play it back for you.
If you are unsatisfied with your recording you can overwrite it by hitting the record button again. This will automatically start recording over the previous recording
